THE
LICK'S BURGER POLL
Lick's
Ice Cream and Burger Shops, invented the Lick's Burger Poll
in 1988 during an election for the Mayor of Oakville, Ontario. Since then the
Lick's Burger Poll
has been
an important part of every provincial and Federal Election! The Lick's Burger
Poll
is designed to add life
and interest to elections, and more specifically:
To increase awareness
for our young staff and customers about the politicians and policies which will
shape our future.
Currently Lick's has twenty-five stores in operation across
Ontario and as such, we can provide an excellent sampling of the support received
by each Party in the Province. Lick's polling numbers in the last Provincial election
closely matched the actual popular vote breakdown.
HOW DOES THE LICK'S BURGER
POLL
WORK?
Each
customer will receive a ballot with their purchase and we invite them to participate
anonymously by indicating their choice of candidate and dropping it off in our
ballot box. As an added bonus, our voters have a chance to win prizes! Ballot
results are tabulated at each store every night and the results are compiled by
our Home Office. The daily update is posted every morning at each location and
is often used by numerous media outlets as the "official" poll results.
Local
politicians have often dropped into their favourite Lick's location during the
campaign to flip some of our World Famous HOMEBURGERS
and greet their constituents. Even Brian Mulroney, Mike Harris and Dalton McGuinty
have cast their Lick's Burger Poll
ballot and we have also fed Jean Chretien's hungry Liberal campaign bus.
Let
the excitement begin!
